Putting beetle-kill to use

Log Buildings

Sheds and Outbuildings

Decks and Framed Structures

To effectively steward our forests, especially in the face of this mountain pine beetle epidemic, beetle-kill wood must be put to use.  Our band saw mill can turn beetle-killed trees into beautiful rough-cut lumber.  We utilize GRK Fasteners (TM) to create the strongest buildings possible and prefer Cetol SRD stain for bringing out the best in our lodgepole lumber.

Log Barn
The wood products in this log barn were milled on-site from wood in the forests nearby. Many mountain-pine-beetle-infected trees were selectively harvested, milled, and installed in the barn within a few day’s time, realizing an effective treatment and utilization of beetle-killed wood.
This log cabin addition required detailed work to shape the new logs to the existing log wall.
Log Cabin Addition Log Wall Joint
This log cabin addition utilizes three-sided or D-logs.  D-logs can be made from a greater variety of timber than conventional house logs, thereby utiizing our timber resources more effectively.
